"Mills Craft Shootout 2010"

The Mills Craft Shootout is back for the 2010 BGN and this time it is even better !! 2 Mills Craft Divisions will be raced at this years BGN. Racers will have the opportunity to race in both the Factory Stock Mills Craft Division and for those wanting to push the limits, a Pro Mills Craft Division. Trophies will be awarded for 1st-3rd in each division. Mills Craft Shootout Factory Stock Division

BODY:
1. Cars/Trucks for the Mills Craft Factory Stock Division must be made from a Mills Craft Stock Car, Stock Truck or Mustang Body kits. The body can be lightly sanded/painted and accessories can be added (light bars, spoilers, hood scoops, etc...) but no significant modification/reduction of wood can be done to the outside of body. Bodies can be hollowed out to reduce weight, but the axle hole/slot area must remain as it comes from the factory. You cannot hollow the whole body out and mount it on your own frame. Several photos of acceptable Mills Craft Factory Stock Division cars/trucks are posted below.

2. Car/Truck Specs:
A. Width - Not to exceed 2 3/4 inches
B. Length - Not to exceed 7 inches
C. Weight - Not to exceed 5.0 ounces on scale accurate to 1/10 ounce.
D. Height- Not to exceed 2 3/4 inches
E. Center Rail Width Clearance – No less than 1 3/4 inches minimum.
F. Bottom Clearance - Car/Trucks must be built to clear the track center rail. The height of the center rail on the track is 1/4" tall.
G. Wheelbase - Must maintain the factory wheelbase. Holes/slots can be filled and re-drilled, but cannot be relocated in an attempt to shorten/lengthen wheelbase. Removing wood from one end of the car/truck body and relocating it to the opposite end is not allowed.

3. The car design may be enhanced by the addition of other stable materials such as plastic or metal. Any additions must be firmly attached and meet Car Size Requirements.

4. No part of the car/truck body, wheels or attachments may protrude in front of the starting peg.

5. The following items are PROHIBITED:
A. Springs
B. Starting devices or propellants
C. Electronic or lighting devices that interfere with the race electronics.
D. Liquids, wet paint, oil, sticky substance, or powders of any kind (other than axle lubrication)
E. Glass or excessively fragile parts
F. Bearings, bushings, washers, sleeves, hubcaps or inserts attached to or in contact with the axle, body or wheels.
G. Loose objects on car/truck
H. Magnets
I. No part of any car/truck, or attachment to any car/truck, that is metal, pointed, sharp, and/or jagged may be capable of contacting any part of the track.

6. WHEELS:
A. BSA wide wheels, Pine-car, Pine-Pro, Awana wide wheels or the Mills Craft wheels in the kit are the only wheels allowed for the Mills Craft Factory Stock Division. Outer wheel surface may be lightly sanded, shaved, or polished to remove surface imperfections and mold casting burrs, but must not be reshaped in any way in an attempt to lighten the wheel, minimize tread contact or alter aerodynamics. Tread surface must be flat and parallel to the wheel bore. Coning the hubs and truing the inside edge is allowed. Tread width may not be less than 7.5 mm. You may add material to the inside of the wheel to aid in balancing (glue, fingernail polish, tape) of the wheel, but no material may be removed.

B. Wheel Bore treatment is allowed including polishing and/or tapping. Wheel bores may not be filled and re-drilled to achieve better fit with the axle.

C. There must be at least 4 wheels on the car/truck, however, it is not required that all 4 wheels make contact with the track surface. Each wheel must be mounted on an axle, on the outside of the car/truck, in the vertical position. Each wheel must be attached directly to the car by an axle and spin freely. No part of the wheel may overlap the center guide rail by more than 1/8 inch. The two rear wheels and the two front wheels must be positioned directly across the body from each another. Staggered wheelbases are not allowed.

7. The following wheel modifications are PROHIBITED:
A. Rounding of wheel edges
B. Grooving, H-cutting or V-cutting
C. Altering of wheel profile
D. Narrowing the tread surface
E. Drilling sidewalls
F. Hollowing, sanding, or otherwise removing or modifying plastic material from inside the wheel
G. Filling of any wheel surface with any type of material

AXLES:
8. Nail, pin and/or one piece rod type axles are allowed with an overall diameter of no less than .084 inches. Some polishing and/or modification is allowed as long as overall diameter is not reduced below .084 requirement. Grooves are allowed, the depth of the groove(s) is not limited so long as the journal portion of the axle (the part the wheel rides on) is no less than the stated minimum diameter.

9. Axles must not be connected to any device that mechanically alters rotation and spin.

10. Axles must be mounted into the wood sections of car/truck. Drilled holes or slots can be used.

11. Over-application of lubricant which results in excessive shedding onto the track is not allowed. Approved lubricants include (but are not limited to) graphite, Teflon, Nyloil, and Krytox.

12. Cars/trucks may be reclassified or disqualified if they are determined by the race officials to not meet these requirements.




Mills Craft Shootout Pro Division
BODY:
1. Cars/Trucks for the Mills Craft Pro Division must be made from a Mills Craft Stock Car, Stock Truck or Mustang Body kits. This Division allows the builder to fully modify the Mills Craft body. The body must still resemble the Mills Craft Stock Car, Stock Truck or Mustang Body when done, but can be highly modified. Bodies can be hollowed, channeled, stretched, mounted on frames, etc...photos of an acceptable Mills Craft Pro Division car/truck are posted below.


2. Car/Truck Specs:
A. Width - Not to exceed 2 3/4 inches
B. Length - Not to exceed 7 inches
C. Weight - Not to exceed 5.0 ounces on scale accurate to 1/10 ounce.
D. Height- Not to exceed 2 3/4 inches.
E. Center Rail Width Clearance – no less than 1 3/4 inches minimum.
F. Bottom Clearance - Car/Truck must be built to clear the track center rail. The height of the center rail on the track is 1/4" tall.
G. Wheelbase – No wheelbase restriction.

A. Wheels not to exceed a Maximum 31mm diameter.
B. Tread width of no less then 7.50mm
C. Wheels must be constructed of plastic, rubber, or polyurethane.
D. Wheels may not be rounded, tapered, grooved, V-cut or H-cut.
E. The entire tread of each wheel must be flat and parallel to the wheel bore.


7. The wheels must be attached directly to axle and spin freely.

AXLES:
